Producers received a demo tape that showed her performing as well as another one in which she performed MMA. They wanted to know if she could do sword fights and on the following day, she sent them a clip of sword combat. Jessica was aware that her job required training with weapons. After reading the script she recorded the first part of her lesson with an expert. Jonathan Glassner stated that they were awestruck by Jessica's performance at the beginning of her training. Jessica had never been in an important role prior to the US, as all of her filmography was in Australia. Jessica's skills in mixed martial, the horse and weaponry and her capability to do stunts, provide her the opportunity to play an impressive female character. She has studied boxing and muay Thai as well as trains at an academy for mixed martial arts in Australia. Jake Stormoen, working on Season 4 of the show was able to meet a puppy which was spotted on the set. One of the puppies had taken up residence within one of the locations. Jessica took care of both puppies.
